The poker game
The origins of the poker game are not very clear and still exists different schools of thought.
Some think that it resembles to a Persian game (that was after developed in Europe thanks to the French colonizers), others think that the modern poker game derives from Germany in the 800, this antique game was called “pochen” (boasting themselves).
It is certain the fact that the game that looks the most nearest to modern poker, comes from the French “poque” , that was defined at the beginning of the XVII century in France and in Holland for then to expand it self in the whole of Europe and subsequently in the United States.
The poker cards should derive from the Chinese tiles of dominos, where thanks to the discovery of the paper (dynasty sung, around the X century) it became of public dominion and it spread out in the whole of the world.
The rules of modern poker are not based on only one game but from a fusion of rules of different games, and during the years is has developed up and become into the poker game that all of us know now.
The first testimonies (around 1820) talk of poker games with 20 cards, where 4 players bet on who has the best score, only after fifty years it began to play with a pack of cards called “French ” (composed by 54 cards) and it had the introduction of colour (five cards of the same colour and symbol).
In the following years is had an enormous growth of poker players and also of the birth of an infinity of variations.
Draw Poker, Stud Poker, Community Card Poker, Razz, Hi-Lo, 7 Card Stud, Poker with Community cards, Texas Hold'em and Omaha to quote the most known and played in the world.
In the first years of the XXI century in the United States, was born the first on-line pokers, and with the insertion of television cameras for the covered cards made the poker game an unbelievable popularity.
The WSOP and the WPT (two among the most excluded tournaments of poker in America) landed on the satellite TV and by cable, making millions of people to know of the charm and the adrenaline of the poker game.
Also in the old continent thanks to the European Poker Tour a big increase of players is had (on-line and in the game rooms) also favouring the formation of associations and the birth of clubs where to play poker in all of its variations.
With the advent of the on-line game rooms (with all the requisite in norm of law) numerous satellite tournaments were born, where you can be able to feel your own ability in trying to reach a prestigious tournament as the WSOP or the WPT; where the sum amount of registration, is decidedly out of reach for a simple player, and the clever participants were an exclusive of not many.
