Omaha poker

The Omaha game is particularly popular in Europe, where it is most played following the rule of the only best hand (high hands in English, the combination of the best hand in every round).

In the last years the high-low split version is being very successful, this version has the particularity to divide the pot into two and to assign it to the player with the best combination and also to the worse combination.

The Omaha game rules are based on those of the Texas Hold'em game but with some fundamental differences; each player receives four personal cards (called pocket cards in English and in the online games), for the formation of the best score you need to use two personal cards and three community cards.

The community cards are distributed in this succession:

Flop where three are distributed,
Turn where one is distributed,
River where is given the last community card.

In the Omaha games there can be from two to ten players.

Before the Flop each player receives four personal cards, the distribution of the cards begins when a player has made a blind (or small blind), this part of the game is called Pre Flop.

The principal difference with the Texas Hold'em consists in the obligation to use two of the four personal cards and three community cards (also called board), for the creation of a good score.

The Omaha can be played in three variations:

Fixed Limit
No Limit
Pot Limit

In the Fixed Limit (Poker with Limit or Fixed Limit in Italian) the bets are set in advance before the beginning of the game.

An example could be 2-5 the bets and the raisings before the flop and on the flop, they are of 2 each, and the bets and the raisings to the river are of 5.

The No Limit, not setting limits on the maximum bets of the players, makes it definitely more dangerous.

The bets and the raisings are to discretion of the financial abilities of the players.

The Pot Limit is slightly a different system, the maximum of the bets is calculated in base of the total of the pot and (in case ditches re launched) the amount that you would bet if offset the re launch.

A typical match of Omaha could be reassumed in this sequence:

The Pre Flop where four personal cards are distributed and are placed the small blinds.

The Flop where the first three community cards are distributed

Follows the second round of bets.

The Turn where a fourth community card is distributed

Follows the third round of bets.

The River where a fifth common card is distributed.

Now that all the cards are on the board now takes place the last round of bets, if in game there are more than one player then takes place the showdown (it is not anything else other than the obligation to show to all the players remained in game the best hand that has succeeded).
